Right now, we’re in an exciting phase. Our 3D visuals are complete, and engineering is actively underway to bring Smart Lid to life. We’re in the process of developing our first working prototype and preparing to launch our product on Kickstarter — a crucial step that will help us gather early supporters, feedback, and funding. Does Smart Lid have an app?
Yes! Smart Lid pairs with a mobile app that helps users stay on track. The app shows scheduled doses, sends reminders, alerts caregivers, and logs medication history — all fully customizable to each user's routine.
How does Smart Lid prevent double or missed doses?
Smart Lid uses voice, light, and sound reminders to signal it’s time to take medication. When the lid is opened, it logs the exact time and sends a signal to the app. To prevent double dosing, a locking mechanism keeps the lid sealed outside scheduled times. After opening, the lid asks a simple confirmation question (“Did you take your pill?”) to ensure the dose was completed — adding another layer of accountability.
How does Smart Lid switch to care giver mode on the app?
The app includes a caregiver mode that allows trusted contacts to monitor use. They receive alerts for missed or double doses, can track the medication log, and view scheduling data, as well as adding new medication and time slots to the app — offering real-time insights and peace of mind for families.
Is Smart Lid the whole bottle or just the cap?
Smart Lid is just the cap. It’s a smart, attachable lid that fits onto standard prescription bottles — no need to replace the entire bottle. This makes it more affordable and compatible with pharmacy-issued bottles, while still delivering high-tech features.
What features does Smart Lid have?

Can I override the locking mechanism?
If your pill is accidentally dropped, eaten by a pet, or otherwise lost, Smart Lid gives you a way to safely respond. Simply tell the app, “Pill lost, need another dose.” The system will log the incident as a one-time override, but still only register that a single dose was taken—protecting against double dosing while keeping your medication history accurate. It’s designed for real life, where mistakes happen.
